Hi! I'm Kristi, the machine behind these intricate, unique and beautiful wire creations. First and foremost, I'm a wife and a mom. Aside from bending wire, I love to sew, play board games, travel, eat really good food, (try to) cook really good food, and spend time with my 'people'! Wire Expressions is an outlet for my creativity, allowing me to do something that fills up my creative tank while putting a smile on other people's faces as well.
Wire Expressions was started as a hobby in 2001. My first necklace was made out of galvanized steel, using pliers from my dad's tool box. I eventually found easier wire to work with, and came up with a few designs. Some friends offered to 'buy' necklaces off me. One of these friends was sitting next to a stranger on a flight - this lady ended up buying several sets, and so it grew into a little business. More than a decade later, I have adapted and changed many of my designs, but I'm still bending wire!
The most common question I receive is 'where did I learn to do this?' I am completely self taught! It comes from a natural ability and desire to create. Unlinke many people who do wire work, I do not use a jig, which I feel gives me more freedom to get things looking just right. Many admirers are surprised to learn the perfect symmetry between two earrings is done completely by sight and feel.
Each creation comes about as an expression of my creativity.
It becomes your expression as you use it, wear it or give it away.
